A Labor of Love

A Labor of Love

How It Started

Most small, family-owned businesses initially start for one of two reasons:

  1. A great idea for a business
  2. Something they hold close to their hearts

While creating high quality premium dog clothes, as well as matching styles for humans, ended up being a great idea for a business, it is not the reason we started Dog Threads. If you’ve followed us for any length of time, you know that Thomas, our late Pomapoo and original brand ambassador/model, was the inspiration for what we do. And you may also know that it is Thomas’ story – specifically that he was “rescued” from a small boutique in LA after being returned by his original owner – that drove us to get involved in helping fund animal rescues find forever homes for dogs around the country.

Thomas of Dog Threads as a Pup

So, from day one we decided that we would donate a portion of all sales to animal rescues. At the beginning it was really small amounts – basically what we could - as we simply couldn’t afford to donate more than a few dollars here and there. But it was the principle, combined with the belief that over time we would be able to donate more that we ultimately loved. And while it may seem like a small number, we are extremely proud (and motivated!) by the fact that we have been able to donate over $10,000 to animal rescues over the past few years.

And we want to celebrate by donating even more!

#RaiseForMyRescue

Starting today, we will be donating 2% of all sales to animal rescues and we want you to get involved! Every quarter we will host a contest on Instagram where we ask YOU who your favorite rescue organization is and why you love + support them. Based on the love you show for your favorite rescue, we’ll select a winner, who will be given a shirt of their choice along with our promise to donate 100% of the money donated that quarter to the animal rescue of their choice.

The first contest starts on September 3rd, so make sure to follow us on Instagram (@shopdogthreads) to read the rules and enter our first ever quarterly #RaiseForMyRescue contest!

For the month of September, we are donating to an animal rescue that holds a special spot in our hearts – Underdog Rescue – where we recently rescued Jonesy, the newest member of our family, who has quickly taken our hearts and Instagram feed alike. They were incredible to work with and made his transition to our home (which he now co-owns along with our son, Ziggy) as seamless as possible.

Sale + UnderDog Rescue

And best of all… we’re kicking things off with a 3-day sale as a thank you to everyone who has helped us in our journey to $10,000!

Featuring some of our fall favorites to help ease your pup’s transition from lounging at the beach to snoozing (cough, cough… we mean studying) in the classroom. Make sure you check your inbox and follow us on Instagram to hear about each day's markdown!

So, we hope you’ll join us in celebrating what we’ve accomplished – and more importantly – be part of our ongoing journey to help as many dogs as possible find their forever homes.
