Fall is a wonderful season with many things to love. Here are some fall items and experiences that people often enjoy:
Fall is the perfect time to break out your favorite sweaters and cardigans. They keep you warm and stylish.
Not only does this cinnamon broom smell so so good it doubles as a great decoration for the ultimate fall vibe.
leopard print is a fall wardrobe essential and being able to match with your pup while accessorizing makes for the cutest outfit.
Visiting an orchard to pick fresh apples is a quintessential fall activity just make sure to double check the orchard is dog friendly before having your pup tag along.
Getting creative with spooky decorations for Halloween can be a lot of fun whether you go all out or go for a more minimalist look.
Gather around a bonfire with friends and family for warmth and toasty marshmallows. The brisk fall air makes for the perfect bonfire weather.
Chrysanthemums, asters, and other fall flowers adds beauty to your house especially when you get to curate a bouquet that has all of your favorite goodies.
Scented candles, especially those with warm and cozy scents like cinnamon, pumpkin, and vanilla creates a comforting cozy atmosphere.
There's something satisfying about walking through a pile of crunchy, fallen leaves especially when you get to do it with your pup.
These are just a few of the many things people love about the fall season. It's a time of change, coziness, and celebration, making it a favorite for many.
Lutsen Family Trip
At the top of my list of things to do during Fall in Minnesota is spend the weekend at Lutsen Resort on the north shore. It's been a family tradition since I was a child and I love carrying on the Autumn road trip journey with my family.
Nature Hikes
I love a relaxing walk down a scenic trail, especially when the leaves begin to change. By myself, with my dog, with my family or friends — every hike I go on fills me up with so much gratitude. The Woodrill Trail in Long Lake, MN is one of my favorites near the Twin Cities.
Thomas’ Birthday
My first fur baby, Thomas, passed away almost 5 years ago now. His birthday was in October and being adopted we never knew the exact day so we'd celebrate him all month long. There's not a day that goes by that I don't miss that sweet boy. He was truly my soulmate, our connection was unreal. We recently launched the Rainbow Bridge Collection designed to help soothe the soul after pet loss. I've been working on this slowly and thoughtfully over the last few years and I am very proud of how it turned out.
Decorating the House
We have small kids so decorating the house for any holiday has become a very fun family activity. I used to dislike all of the cheugy knick knacks and trinkets, but now with the joy of kids to share it with, I've become quite the opposite. Right now our front porch has a skeleton, pumpkins, mums, ghosts, fake crows and snakes — the creepier the better my boys would say.
Annual Halloween Party
To pair with the decor we have started an annual Halloween costume party at our house with all of our family and friends. We go all out and it's become such a fun family tradition to look forward to.
Costumes
Being a fashion designer I obviously can't deny a holiday where we dress up in dramatic outfits. I usually let the kids steer the ship on what they want to be then my husband and I join the theme. This year is a classic Halloween theme with mummy children, my husband as a vampire, and I'll be a witch with my black cat (Jonesy). TBD if he appreciates being a cat.
Matching Hoodies
Oversized hoodies are a must all year round for me — and for my dog, Jonesy. We are creatures of comfort and nothing, and I mean nothing, beats these matching dog and owner hoodies by Dog Club Social. Each color is an absolute dream.
Orchards
Call me basic but I love a good apple orchard, pumpkin patch, fall festival, or what have you. I loved them before we had kids and even more so now.
Baking
Never was I a baker but this season always has me trying to recipes and treats for the fam. Mostly because we end up with too many apples to actually eat :)
Bonfires
The smell, the smores, and cozy snuggles in a warm wool blanket. Nothing is better.
New Healthcare Rituals
I love the changing of seasons for more than the weather and holidays that come with it. For me, the beginning of each season also reminds me to reflect on where I've been and where I want to go. I look to re-balance and add new health rituals to my routine. I recently learned about the positive powers of Reishi Mushrooms from my current favorite podcast, The Bio Alchemy Podcast. I purchased the powder here and have loved adding it to my healthcare routine.
Fall is a wonderful time to spend with your pup, as the weather cools down and nature puts on a colorful display. Here are 10 fun activities you can do with your furry friend this fall:
1. Leaf Pile Playtime: Rake up a pile of leaves in your yard or a local park and let your pup jump and play in them. Just make sure there are no hidden dangers that might poke your pup — this is a great enrichment exercise for your pup.
2. Nature Hikes: Explore the beautiful fall foliage on nature hikes or walks in nearby forests or trails. Remember to keep your dog on a leash and bring essentials like water and poop bags.

7. Fall Photo Shoot: Capture the beauty of the season with a fall-themed photoshoot with your pup. Use fallen leaves, pumpkins, or other seasonal props as backdrops.
8. Camping Trip: If you enjoy camping, bring your pup along for a camping adventure. Camping in the fall often means fewer bugs and cooler temperatures.
9. Homemade Dog Treats: Spend a cozy day indoors baking homemade dog treats with fall flavors like pumpkin or apple. Your pup will appreciate the tasty rewards.
10. Snuffle Mats: Snuffle mats can serve as an alternative to a dog bowl for fast eaters. Not only are they a great way how to make your dog eat more slowly, but they can also supplement exercise, reduce anxiety, and provide a fun activity for your dog.
Remember to consider your pup's safety and comfort during these activities. Ensure they are up-to-date on vaccinations, have proper identification, and are well-behaved in public settings. Also, keep an eye on the weather and dress your dog appropriately, especially if it gets chilly. Enjoy your fall adventures with your furry friend!

Yesterday I walked into the Dog Threads (now Good Thomas) office to find out that Meta decided to wrongfully suspend our Instagram account @shopdogthreads after 10 years of building our small business with the Instagram community — with 112,000 followers, irreplaceable content, and relationships and partnerships that will no longer exist thanks to the inability to get through via dms if your branded handle that has history gets changed overnight to one with no followers or brand awareness.
Here’s what happened.
We got an email from Meta that said our account had been temporarily suspended for not following community guidelines. We were sure that was not the case — we make dog clothing and matching outfits for people for heaven's sake. There was one option in the email to get our account back which was to appeal the suspension, so we did that. After 20 minutes we received a final email back from Meta that said they reviewed our account and decided we still were in violation of following their community guidelines and have decided to permanently disable and suspend our account.
Boom, just like that, Meta closes our account with no possible way to recover it or the lost revenue it has stolen from us.
This may sound superficial but when a large piece of your business relies on this platform — and when my family and 4 employees depend on this company for a paycheck each month — it is devastating, heartbreaking, and wrong. I won’t even get into the fact that our nonprofit animal rescue partners that receive a portion of our revenue will be affected.
It is infuriating that after doing research it is not uncommon for personal or business accounts to have this happen. The fact that Meta is a massive company that can afford to prevent this type of error from happening by auditing these suspensions via real support from actual humans, but chooses not to prioritize it, is a real problem.
They shouldn’t allow this to happen — to small businesses, personal accounts, or any of its users that trust them to keep their photos, videos, information, and data safe.
If I could, I would remove our business from Instagram / Meta completely, but because we have people relying on our business, we cannot afford to do this, which is another very upsetting piece of this crooked puzzle.
I want everyone possible to know that this permanent suspension error is happening all of the time and no one is safe from it. If you have a personal account and care about the content you have posted, you need to remember to back up all of this information and data regularly so you do not lose it if Meta chooses to close your account without warning. And if you run a small business, remember to not put all of your eggs in one basket and diversify across other platforms as well because, for some businesses, this would close the doors.
Please share this article with anyone who might benefit from reading it. I can't do much about this situation but try my hardest to prevent others from having this happen to them.

Always consult with your veterinarian before adding any supplements to your dog's diet. They can assess your dog's specific needs and recommend the most appropriate supplements based on their health, age, and breed.**
Remember, the well-being of your dog is paramount during the summer months. Pay attention to their behavior and signs of overheating, and never leave your dog unattended in a hot car or in a poorly ventilated area. We hope you snag some of these good for your hot dog summer!
Keeping your dog's paw pads safe during the summer is important because hot pavement, sand, and other surfaces can potentially burn or injure them. For our friends in warmer climates this is a year round checklist we run through to make sure we are best protecting our dog's paw pads:
Avoid hot surfaces: This might sound obvious but it's necessary. Before heading out for walks, check the temperature of the pavement or sand with your hand. If it feels hot to the touch, it's likely too hot for your dog's paws. Opt for walks during cooler times of the day, such as early morning or late evening.
Remember, every dog is different, and some may be more sensitive to heat than others. Pay attention to your dog's behavior and cues, and adjust their outdoor activities accordingly to keep their paw pads safe during the summer.
The 4th of July can be a stressful time for many pets due to the loud fireworks and festivities. Here are some tips to help keep your pup safe during this time:
Keep them indoors: Keep your pup inside the house during the 4th of July celebrations. Create a comfortable and secure environment for them, preferably in a room where they feel safe. Close the windows and draw the curtains to help reduce noise and block out the flashes of light.
Provide a safe space: Set up a designated area in your home where your pup can retreat to if they feel scared. This could be a crate, a cozy corner, or a familiar room with their bed and toys. Make sure this space is comfortable and secure, and allow them to access it freely.
Exercise early: Give your pup plenty of exercise earlier in the day, so they are tired when the fireworks begin. A tired pup may be calmer and less anxious during the loud noises.
Provide distractions: Keep your pup occupied with toys, puzzles, or treats to help divert their attention from the noise. Consider using long-lasting chews or puzzle toys that require mental engagement.
Use calming techniques: Try using calming techniques such as playing soothing music or white noise to drown out the sound of fireworks. You can also use a white noise machine or a television to provide background noise.
Comfort your pup: Stay calm and provide comfort to your pup if they are anxious. Reassure them with a soothing voice, gentle petting, or by sitting close to them. However, avoid reinforcing fearful behavior as this might encourage the fear to persist.
Microchip and ID tags: Make sure your pup has proper identification with an up-to-date ID tag and, ideally, a microchip. This will increase the chances of being reunited with your pet in case they get scared and run away.
Consult a veterinarian: If your pup experiences extreme anxiety or fear during the 4th of July celebrations, consult with your veterinarian. They may be able to provide additional guidance and recommend strategies or medications to help alleviate your pup's anxiety.
Remember, every dog is different, and some may require extra care and attention during this time. By taking these precautions, you can help keep your pup safe and reduce their stress levels during the 4th of July celebrations.

Using a harness instead of a leash has several advantages for your pup. Thankfully we created a dog harness for walking in 4 different prints so your furry friend and trot in style. You can check off out our cute dog harnesses here.
Here are some reasons why a harness may be a better choice:
Safety: A harness distributes pressure more evenly across a dog's body, reducing strain on their neck and throat. This is especially important for dogs with respiratory issues or those prone to pulling. By avoiding pressure on the neck, a harness can help prevent injuries and discomfort.
Stability: A harness provides better control over your dog's movements, especially if they tend to pull or have a strong prey drive. It gives you a more secure grip and reduces the risk of your dog slipping out of the collar, particularly for small or wriggly dogs.
Preventing Injuries: Dogs that pull excessively on a leash can strain their neck, potentially leading to injuries such as tracheal damage or collapsed trachea. A harness reduces the risk of these injuries and is particularly beneficial for breeds prone to such issues.
Training Aid: A harness can be a useful tool for training your dog to walk politely on a leash. With a harness, you can redirect their attention and control their movements more effectively, making it easier to teach loose-leash walking and discourage pulling.
No Choking Risk: Unlike a collar or a slip lead, a harness eliminates the choking risk associated with sudden jerks or leash corrections. It's a safer option, especially for dogs prone to pulling or lunging, as it minimizes the potential for throat or neck injuries.
While harnesses offer many benefits, it's important to choose the right type and size for your dog. Consult with a veterinarian or a professional dog trainer to ensure you select the most appropriate harness that fits well and suits your dog's specific needs.
]]>As a dog owner, there are several useful items you might want to consider carrying in your bag when you're out and about with your furry friend. Firstly a cute oversized tote is great because you can fit so many of your pup's things in it. You can shop dog mom totes here.
As for what we are putting in our bags here are a few suggestions on how to always be prepared + stylish at the same time:
Poop bags: Always carry an ample supply of poop bags to clean up after your dog. It's essential to be a responsible pet owner and keep public areas clean.
Remember to tailor your bag's contents based on your dog's individual requirements and the specific activities you'll be engaging in.
When it comes to summer, it's important to ensure that your furry friend stays safe, comfortable, and happy. Here are some essential items for dogs during the summer:
Fresh Water: Always provide your dog with access to clean, fresh water. Keep their water bowl filled throughout the day and consider using a portable water bottle or collapsible water bowl when you're on the go.
Shade and Shelter: Create a shaded area in your yard where your dog can relax and cool down. Provide a doghouse or a covered patio to protect them from direct sunlight. Avoid leaving your dog outside for extended periods during the hottest parts of the day.
Cooling Mats or Pads: Cooling mats or pads are designed to help lower your dog's body temperature. These mats are usually filled with a cooling gel that activates upon pressure and doesn't require electricity. They can provide relief from the heat and help prevent overheating.
Sun Protection: Just like humans, dogs can get sunburned, especially those with short hair, light-colored fur, or exposed skin. Use pet-friendly sunscreen on sensitive areas such as the nose, ears, and belly,
Lightweight Dog Clothing: consider using protective clothing like dog t-shirts to make sure they aren't getting too much sun.
Doggy Pool: A small, shallow pool can provide a fun and cooling activity for your dog. It allows them to splash around and cool off on hot summer days. Make sure to supervise them while they are in the pool to ensure their safety.
Paw Protection: Hot pavement, sand, or concrete can burn your dog's paws. Consider using paw balms or protective booties to shield their feet from extreme temperatures and rough surfaces.
Parasite Protection: Summertime means an increase in fleas, ticks, and mosquitoes. Ensure that your dog is up to date on their flea and tick prevention medication, and consider using a dog-safe mosquito repellent if you live in an area with a high mosquito population.
Proper Exercise: Adjust your dog's exercise routine to avoid the hottest parts of the day. Early mornings or late evenings are typically cooler times to take your dog for walks or play outdoors. Be mindful of signs of overheating, such as excessive panting, drooling, or lethargy.
Remember, every dog is unique, and their needs may vary. Consult with your veterinarian for specific recommendations based on your dog's breed, age, and health condition to ensure they stay safe and healthy during the summer months.

Remember to consider your friends/fam preferences, the dog's breed (if applicable), and any specific interests they may have when choosing a gift. Let us know if grab any of these items for your upcoming celebrations!

As summer is about to be in full swing, so make sure your pup has everything they need to keep them healthy. A lot of illnesses can be prevented, especially when it comes to ticks. Here are some tips you can take before letting your furry friend go on adventures this summer!
1. Tick Prevention Medications: Consult with your veterinarian about suitable tick prevention medications for your pup. There are various options available, including topical treatments, oral medications, and collars. These medications can help repel ticks or kill them if they attach to your pup.
2. Regular Tick Checks: Thoroughly examine your pup for ticks after spending time outdoors, especially in areas where ticks are prevalent. Pay close attention to areas such as the ears, head, neck, armpits, and groin. If you find a tick, promptly remove it using fine-tipped tweezers or a tick removal tool. Grasp the tick close to your pet's skin and pull it straight out with a steady motion.
3. Tick-Proof Outdoor Spaces: If you have a yard, keep the grass mowed short, as ticks tend to thrive in tall grass. Clear any leaf litter or brush where ticks could hide. Consider creating a designated play area for your pup that's away from heavily wooded or grassy areas where ticks are commonly found.
4. Tick Repellents: Consider using tick repellents specifically designed for dogs. Natural options such as essential oils can also be effective, but it's important to consult with your veterinarian to ensure they are safe for your pup.
5. Tick Awareness: Educate yourself about the types of ticks found in your area and the diseases they can transmit. Awareness will help you recognize potential symptoms and seek appropriate veterinary care if necessary.
6. Wash Your Pets Clothes: Regularly wash your dogs's clothing to eliminate any ticks or eggs that may be present. Keeping their dog clothes clean is a must.
7. Vaccinations: Speak with your veterinarian about tick-borne disease vaccinations available for your pup, such as Lyme disease vaccination. Vaccines can provide additional protection against certain tick-borne illnesses.
Remember, it's always best to consult with your veterinarian for personalized advice based on your pup's specific needs and your local tick population. Comment down below if you have any other ways you're helping your pup stay healthy and enjoy the summer!
]]>Check the temperature: If the temperature is above 90 degrees Fahrenheit, it's generally too hot for a walk with your dog.
Watch for signs of overheating: Dogs are more susceptible to heat exhaustion and heatstroke than humans. If your dog is panting excessively, drooling, or seems lethargic, it may be too hot for them to be outside.
Check the pavement: If the pavement is too hot to touch with your bare hand, it's likely too hot for your dog's paws.
Observe your dog's behavior: If your dog is dragging behind, trying to lie down, or seeking shade, it's a sign that they may be uncomfortable.
Take breaks: If you must walk your dog in the heat, take frequent breaks in shaded areas and offer water to keep them cool.
Always carry water: Your dog is going to be thirsty so make sure to carry a portable water bottle because they can't sweat and need constant hydration.
In general, it's best to avoid walking your dog during the hottest parts of the day and opt for early morning or late evening walks when it's cooler. Remember to always prioritize your dog's comfort and safety when it comes to summer walks.

]]>As the months get warmer it's important to keep your pup's health in tip top shape. We made a checklist of several things you can do to make sure your dog is ready for summer:
Visit the veterinarian: Take your dog to the vet for a checkup and make sure all vaccinations are up to date. Your vet can also provide recommendations on flea and tick prevention and other preventative measures.
Keep your dog hydrated: Make sure your dog has access to plenty of fresh, clean water at all times, especially during hot weather. Bring water with you on walks or outings. Travel Dog Water Bottle
Protect from the sun: Dogs with light-colored fur and those with thin coats are more susceptible to sunburn. Apply sunscreen made specifically for dogs to any exposed skin, especially on the ears and nose. Dog Sunscreen
Grooming: Regular grooming helps remove dead fur, dirt and debris, which can help keep your dog cooler. It also prevents matting, which can be painful for your dog.
Exercise: Keep your dog active with regular exercise, but avoid strenuous activities during the hottest parts of the day. Early morning or evening walks are a good option. Ball Thrower for Fetching

Spring is here, that means your pup might be experiencing some changes and could get allergies with all the pollen floating around. Here a few things we look out for as veteran dog parents.
Some common signs and symptoms of spring allergies in dogs:
Itching and scratching: Dogs with spring allergies may scratch, lick, and bite themselves excessively, especially in areas such as the face, ears, paws, and belly.
Red and inflamed skin: Allergies can cause redness, swelling, and inflammation of the skin in dogs.
Watery eyes and nose: Dogs with allergies may have watery eyes and a runny nose.
Sneezing: Dogs with spring allergies may sneeze frequently.
Ear infections: Allergies can lead to ear infections in dogs, which can cause discomfort and pain.
Hair loss: Excessive scratching and licking can lead to hair loss in dogs.
How to help your pup with spring allergies:
If you suspect that your dog has spring allergies, it's important to take them to the vet for a proper diagnosis and treatment. Your vet may prescribe antihistamines, steroids, or other medications to help manage your dog's allergies.
Additionally, bathing your dog with a hypoallergenic shampoo, wiping down their paws after outdoor activities, and keeping your home clean and dust-free can help reduce allergen exposure and alleviate your dog's symptoms.

This cute fluffy boy was born in Los Angeles in 2007 and would soon come to meet his mom Gina later that year. Gina was 18 years old when they first met and they were really able to grow up together. Their first few years were spent together in California where Gina was in fashion school learning to design clothes. Thomas was still a little guy when Gina decided to move back to her home of Minneapolis.
Gina and Thomas were inseparable, he was her soul dog — the kind of dog she would never forget. Gina would then meet Scott who would become a part of their family. Thomas had such a human-like personality Gina knew he deserved to have something to show this off...what better than a custom wardrobe? So she started designing and creating her own clothing for Thomas and matching shirts for herself of course, and soon enough, friends and family began asking for similar outfits for their own pets. This led Gina and Scott to launch Dog Threads, which has since become a popular brand in the pet industry.
Although Thomas passed away in November of 2018 he is huge pillar in our company today. As we continue to expand our brand we are going back to our roots: Thomas. His legacy lives on through every dog shirt, dog hoodie, dog Hawaiian shirt — from big dog clothing to small dog outfits he influenced it all.
Our parent brand Good Thomas is coming soon. Stay tuned!
